You know, things that could cause disappointment and make the game less "awesome". Personally i don't want the game to be a boring grindfest.

I fear the game will be lacking in overall content. Unless the inevitable direct reveals a whole other chunk of the game, Splatoon as it is now is not worth 60 dollars. This concerns me more than how exactly the clothing/perk system is going to work or whether or not the weapon load-outs are all equally viable and balanced. Right now Turf Wars is pretty much entirely defined by a single online multilayer game mode focus.
Hero Mode isn't going to be some epic 20+ hour adventure. Its implementation was clearly an afterthought. At best we'll get a solid, but altogether short single player experience. I suppose if I take the question a different way, my biggest fear is that despite all my building excitement with each new bit of information we're given, the game itself won't click with me once I finally get my hands on it and I'll lose interest entirely. Not so much that I fear the game will turn out poorly per say.

This game needs to have lagless online to be successful. Normally this shouldn't be a concern, but we talkin bout Nintendo here so... But anyways Mk8 was flawless so we don't need to worry that much SPLATOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON

Sure, you get weird things happening because of lag spikes (shells acting funny, mostly), but that's it. I even have Canadian internet, the worst internet in the developed world. My big fear about the game is that the matchmaking will put beginners up against experts too often. It's not a big fear, but nothing kills the fun of a game like this than getting steamrolled over and over again. It's more fun for everybody if you get put with people near your own level, whatever that is. Granted, they have that "cool" system in place, so I'm not THAT worried

Splatoon will most likely use a similar netcode as MK8 since shooters and racers pretty much use the same type of online set up. What do you mean Xeiro by Single Player being an afterthought? Nothing suggests that as of yet. I'm not expecting a long campaign, but somewhere between 6-8 hours like most shooters that have other modes. With some replay value in the campaign like collectables.
Let's face it, most shooters emphasis is mostly on the multiplayer. So it wouldn't be unnormal if this game is the same. But I do have concerns only about multiplayer modes. It wouldn't be a huge deal, especially since they could release more via DLC, but a little disappointing. Like I said before, I hope the Splatoon Direct does a Smash Wii U and reveal a lot of hidden unannounced stuff.

Games are generally made with either the single player or multiplayer in mind as a primary focus. Splatoon's single player looks to be nothing more than a short distraction from what is obviously meant to be games actual long term driving appeal. Due to how cut off it is from the rest of the game, you're almost discouraged from playing it which is kind of the point. Want to mess around with all those different weapon sets or buy new clothing items to dress up your inkling with? Don't bother with single player then.
I would gladly give up Hero Mode entirely if it meant we got more multiplayer modes besides just Turf War because right now that's all there is. Well I suppose there is that 1 vs 1 duel mode, but as far as 4 vs 4 goes that doesn't count. No one here can convince me their interest in this game comes primarily or even in large part from Hero Mode. If someone honestly does feel that way, prepare to be disappointed my friend. 60 dollars worth! Why do you think our introduction to the game was through Turf War? It's as if the online multiplayer is meant to be the game's primary selling point.
That's what I mean by an afterthought. That's what hero mode boils down to. It's content meant to help round out the overall Splatoon package, but it is exceedingly clear that next to the online multiplayer, comparably little time and resources were spent on it. Again, that doesn't mean it's going to be a poorly made unpolished mess. There's no real basis for an assumption like that anyway.

Actually I'm pretty excited for Hero Mode since they said it has a lot of platfomering. Platformers is my favorite genre.

I do have some things I'm worried about, but I believe Nintendo will deliver,
1. A stable online, I don't have the best Internet, so I can understand a little lag here and there, but I don't want a big lag all the time, that would almost completely ruin the game. However, I hope nintendo knows this and will have good dedicated servers so we can spread ink to our hearts content!
2. Voice chat, I know this has been a heavy topic, but nintendo really needs to give us fans more features. I don't need a game chat, but I would definitly like it. But I do think we need is a friend party chat mode basically just like Xbox live party chat. That way we will only talk to our friends and not have a bunch of idiots cursing over the mic to a 10 year old.
3. Multiplayer content, single player to me looks very fun and finished and that is ready for us to play, but I would say a different story for multiplayer. As far as we know, the only mode is 4 VS. 4, as stated from the Famitsu, so there is room for more fantastic game modes that take splatoons mechanics to a new level! And I also think there should be a mix of the campaign and multiplayer, a 4 player co op survivial!
I do think in the end Nintendo will nail these points so I'm not sweeting too much about it, nintendo does like to hold there cards close to there cheats. So if a Splatoon direct comes out this month and they just go nuts with details and more content that we had no clue was even in development would be so assuring to me!

I'm worried about the game taking forever to get 8 players for a match as it might be trying to pair up people of the same level before realizing there isn't any. Nintendo said that they are making Hero Mode for people who don't have the best internet (I think) so I bet it will be around 6-8 hours, like someone before me said. The reason Turf War is the only online mode (at the moment) according to Nintendo is so that there is enough players to make match-finding quick, but I'm still a little worried. But overall this game looks fantastic and I'm confident in Nintendo can make this great I predict the direct for this game (If there is one) will be in April as they always have the game direct a month before release except for Smash and we almost always have an April direct. As for a release date I'm guessing May 30th, like last years MK8.

Also my other big fear is that there won't be a huge player base because stupid people can't get over no voice-chat. Just look at this video's comments: Link

Like I said before, I hope the Splatoon Direct does a Smash Wii U and reveal a lot of hidden unannounced stuff. Shooters and racers don't use the same netcode. Racing games can appear lagless when they are really laggy as hell because there isn't as much player-to-player interaction and the game is much more capable of predicting where a kart will be in the next few frames because a kart can only move in some many ways. Whereas a shooter, there's way more factors, much more character engagement, and it's much harder to predict where a player will be at a given time. Plus, it's not like Splatoon uses hit-scan or anything, so players will have to lead their shots, which makes lag even more of a significant factor for shooters. I'm gonna have to agree with Xeiros, the single-player does feel kind of rushed and an afterthought. It feels like they just cooked up some exclusive assets and used the maps they already have for multiplayer. I really don't see much value in it, except maybe for people without internet connections. Honestly, my biggest worry is that the multiplayer will be feature-thin. The less features it has, the less longevity the game will have.

It's not just that video though, take a look at other forums. Though probably the people who are upset about this weren't even going to get the game in the first place so it doesn't really matter that much. Who wants to talk to random people anyways? Also to me the single player doesn't looked rushed at all. Yes it will probably be short but from what we seen none of the levels are from multi-player. It looks like they are using the ink and squid form in interesting ways and we'll have to wait until a direct or reviews to see if it is actually good or not.

I have a feeling the internet stability will be similar to Ironfall: Invasion. There are some communication errors, but overall it is stable (Fun game btw).

I mean, talking to random people isn't necessarily bad. Good way to make friends. Makes random matchmaking less chaotic if you can actually manage communication with your teammates. That's definitely important if you can't enter random matchmaking as a group of two or more.
