No Wiimote support and it might turn out to be boring.

My biggest fear for Splatoon is that it will not be easy to have local multiplayer tournaments. I am a huge fan of hosting parties at my house for every huge Nintendo release(did one for Mario Kart 8, and Super Smash Brothers), but by the looks of things right now, I'm very concerned. After that, I'd say I'm also concerned that this game will be too light on content(taking a look at the file size). Hopefully Splatoon sells well, and we can get a sequel someday. This goes back to the LAN party issue, we still don't know if Splatoon will be supporting any type of LAN parties which could potentially make or break the competitive scene. This is something I want to address again. I have been feeling more and more confident that this won't be a big issue, as Splatoon is definitely playable over LAN whether or not it is "enabled" out-of-the-box for basic users playing the game at home. I feel like the attention Splatoon is getting from the esports community and now being a cover story on EDGE magazine from GamesRadar, Nintendo will work with esports to make events and tournaments played over LAN. The only issue this would leave is if Nintendo decides to not allow basic users at home to play Splatoon over LAN, which I suppose I could see them doing, but I still remain confident that it will either be worked around or entirely not the case.

I'm scared that Splatoon might not be "The Hype" for long enough and it will lose it's interest in people and people will move into other games quickly, like what happened with Titanfall. Also I fear it might become "Pay2Win" with the exclusive DLC only equipment.

The local Competitive scene* Wouldn't really hurt the online competitive scene, which is an apparent focus.

Lack of depth and game content could be a disappointment. It might feel stale too quickly.
But what I'm mainly wondering is whether friend rooms have been confirmed. Does anyone know if it's possible to host a room and organise the respective teams? I assume they would implement something like this (akin to mk8), but it sure would be crucial for me. It's a fear of mine they would somehow severely limit the options for playing with friends.

It has been confirmed that you can play with friends online together (such as join a friend). Whether that means privately or against random opponents is yet to be clarified, to my knowledge.

my biggest fear for splatoon, casually speaking? well, bots were confirmed to not be in the game, so i guess im worried that when numbers start dwindling it'll be hard to find a full match with good connection
my biggest fear for splatoon, competitively speaking? i'm worried it'll be shunned by other communities and won't be given a chance. i wouldn't want the game to die in the metaphorical womb because people look at it and think "oh, it's just a casual shooter game made by nintendo. it doesn't even have voice chat, you can't play it seriously."

I have a feeling it may not be shunned. I guess we will have to see after Apex.

That is what it comes off as tho lol. In turf war it is hard for people to really suck at it and we don't know much about the competitive modes also you can't even speak in them.

I highly doubt it would be shunned, especially since many from the Smash community is competitively interested in this game. suavevillainTurf wars are not the focus of competitive splatoon, that would go to Ranked Battles most likely. Also, all tournaments worth going to would be in person, so teammates will be able to speak to each other. But that hardly is necessary. Many competitive teams never talk during a game, as they already know each others habits. You are very much over-exaggerating

My biggest fear is that people will move on to smash and splatoon will be less fun on multiplayer.
