I think the Hero Suit can be unlock after you finished Single Player mode. Also, the environment of the single player campaign is FANTASTIC!! Really, platforming looks excellent, hope a few tech got imported into the multiplayer campaign too.

I am thinking that its about a post apocalyptic world. Where the octopus rule and the squids gotta take over. And the squids rek.

It's been said that that's not the case. According to the official Twitter, it's a bit of the inverse- Octos are living underground and are trying to breach and take over the surface world. The player Inkling dons the Hero Suit and heads underground to stop them.

What BlackBird said.. it's not really a post-apocalyptic world.

It could be something like a post-apocalyptic world from the octopus army perspective if they originally lived on the surface.

Post-apoc implies that the world itself is in ruins. That seems to very much NOT be the case here. At most likely, it's simply a case of 'Invasion of the Mole-Men' and they've lived underground forever and just want a taste of sunlight- but they're going about it in the most horrible way possible. Alternatively, they could've been banished a long long time ago for grave offenses to life in general.
(Note: I HATE HATE HATE the post-apoc setting in games nowadays; it's overplayed and I'm utterly, vehemently SICK of it, and I thank God, Zeus, Ra, and The Great Pumpkin that it doesn't seem to be post-apoc here.)

Yeah, doesn't seem to be the case. There's cities and everything that are in tact. But looking at the underground domes you play levels in... they look more like an alternate dimension than post-apocalyptic. But like JC said, it could be from the Octopi's perspective.

I thought the Twitter said that they are explicitly underground? As from the Octopi's perspective...possibly. But by all gods I hope not.

Yeah, the octopi are underground. post-apoc probably isn't the perfect word to describe it, considering they have been able to amass the technology needed for the invasion. Society is too organized. The parallel could be that they don't have many resources apart from that and "life kinda sucks".

One thing I'm really liking about the single player trailer is just how creative the levels were designed. I especially like how every level has a specific theme, which adds to the depth and creativity.

It's a strange feeling, paying $13 to use what amounts to a giant Beyblade in a Zelda game

Guys, what if the Squids are actually the oppressors? The Octopi tried to live above ground but were forced out of their homes by Squids. Splatoon takes place at the end of the war, with a select few elite agents (The Hero & friends) stomping out the last of Octopi kind.

The squids are evil? That would be a nice twist.

That'll get the theories really going, just like the many theories for Pokemon and Mother.

Those papers and posters we saw in the most recent trailer? Anti-Octopi propaganda.
