Without voice chat, local multiplayer, splitscreen, LAN, etc., my concerns have really risen regarding this game's long-term health. And without those features, its competitive scene is all but non-viable it seems. I think you had too big of expectations regarding competitive play which I fail to see is non-viable either way. It isn't exactly what you want nor how you wanted, but that doesn't mean it can't be it at all. Not having voice chat does equate to not being able to be played competitive ly. Also, when was local multiplayer deconfirmed? The devs have continually said split screen multiplayer has never been their focus and they can't promise anything when it comes to making it work locally. In terms of competitive scene it's all up to the community and TO's to make it happen. With all the worries Splature posted it's going to potentially be a masive hassle to have Splatoon tournaments, which will detere many people from hosting them, which could harm the competitive future for this game. Hopefully it won't end up like that but it does seem kind upsetting at the moment.

There is 1v1 in this game. We know that because of the hub. Isn't that a form of local multiplayer? Also if you wanted to do LAN just make 8 Wii U's friends with each other. Problem solved.

The game had a lot of potential, how could I not be a bit disappointed that it won't reach that potential? I'll still run online tournaments and surely there will be an online competitive scene, but a healthy competitive scene doesn't work with an online-only console game. Offline 4v4 tournaments can't happen without local multiplayer, splitscreen, and LAN. I mean, local multiplayer with 4v4. Right now it's just 1v1.

What's interesting to me is that they've confirmed that there'll be more modes than what we've seen. Sounds like more than just 1v1, too. Curiosity abounds.

Routers? Why can't the same be done at a tournament.? Four routers (Two people connected to one) two for each team.

Local Area Network, basically a bunch of systems linked by ethernet cable. I wonder what they used at the E3/Apex demos and the games the journalists played for these previews to connect the systems up? I think the fears expressed in this thread are a little hyperbolic. Declaring the game "dead" when it isn't out yet and we haven't seen half of what's in it is fairly premature. I mean, what is this, SmashBoards? Anyways, I'm excited by what I've seen. It feels like a real game now, with stuff in it and everything. Maybe it won't be perfect but what is?

No one is saying the game is dead or anything. But it can't have an offline competitive scene without LAN and an online-only scene won't thrive as well as one with offline capabilities unless its a PC game. Not really. Those features are good for all players, not just competitive ones. The game had a lot of potential, how could I not be a bit disappointed that it won't reach that potential? It's not viable to have everyone on the Internet at large or small scale events unless its with PCs. LAN is far and away the better option.

So as far as new weapons we got.. Splattershot Pro (Submachine gun) Jet Squelcher (Submachine Gun?) New Sub and Special weapons Some type of new bomb or something (Sub) Two completely new Sub and Specials. One looks like a Gun turret, the other a mechanical squid. The Special is basically giving you unlimited bombs to throw in a set time for both. The water gallon bomb explodes on impact oppose to having a timer The cylinder bomb is actually a sticky bomb that can attach to walls and other Inklings. This purple sub appears again. That's all I got.

I also saw a "Splattershot Jr.", which is like an Uzi. Looks like a big pistol, fully automatic.
