So, I'll be brief. I go to a game dev school, and the new Head of School is really into it.
So into it, that he's trying to develop a competitive gaming scene where I live (Lafayette, Louisiana).
We aren't exactly known for our wide depth of competitive fevor, but there's enough of a market, he believes.
And guess who he asked to do research and help on potential games to feature?
Naturally, I suggested two in particular- Smash Bros, because everyone at school plays that anyway.
And Splatoon, considering the (so-far) close relationship the two games have concerning competitive players. I was wondering if perhaps it would be possible to have one segue into the other, should he consider it. I know for a fact there ARE people at the school interested in playing Splatoon when it comes out, so there won't be a shortage of players. I'm hoping there'll be some way for any of you guys, whether you're in the Smash scene or not, to help out with this, because I REALLY want to help push Splatoon as a competitive game when it comes out. I fear that it'll only happen if it rides on coattails, however. Basically I'm asking for help with getting the word out, when it's ready. We'll be streaming tournaments, of course.
...if there's anything else you're curious about regarding the situation, lemme know.
