What do you guys think so far? The most interesting and very helpful Special is the Bubbler. It's the one that makes a barrier around you, but what's cool is that if you touch a teammate while it's activated, they'll have one for a short while too. For like 3-5 seconds. I think it lasts like 10-15 seconds for the person who activates it.

10-15 seconds? Not a chance. Do you have any idea how broken that would be? With the right perks, that's more than enough time to refill your special meter while the barrier is still active thus allowing for almost permanent invulnerability. It's around 5 seconds at best.
I'm somewhat disappointed that three of the sub weapons are variants of grenades. You've got the balloon one that explodes on contact, the one that explodes after a set time, and the obligatory sticky grenade. I was also surprised we didn't get to see more of the Sprinkler in action in the newest build either. I love how effective the Killer Wail and Ink strike are in Splat Zones. That'll teach players to keep moving. Stay in one place at your own folly.

Not sure on the time of the Bubbler. I like there's a variety of bombs. The Splash Wall was so misused in the preview matches. It should be used in tight pathways, and also to bait your opponent to try and swim around it where a Splat Bomb is waiting for them.

I like the Splash Wall quite a bit, reminds me of the shield special items in Halo 3. It emphasizes the territorial control aspects of the game that much more.
For raw coolness, however, I'm going with the Ink Strike. Inky tornado death from above!

I was convinced the name of that sub was the ink shield
Is the confirmed name splash wall?
And I really like how the sub and special weapons complement their main weapons so well.
Like the killer wail makes up for the roller's lack of range, while bomb rush makes up for the Splat charger's poor close-range effectiveness.

The Killer Wail is probably my favorite special so far. It has a pretty wide range, and it's definitely gonna be good for luring someone towards you.

A lot of weapon names seem to have changed between the Direct and this newest build. It was indeed called the Ink Shield. The Ink Gun is now the Splattershot JR, the Ink Roller is the Splat Roller, the Ink Rifle is now the Splat Charger. The 52 Gallon has for some reason become the .52 Gallon which sounds a lot less potent. Who knows if even this names are final. Guess we'll see.

I just watched a video by Game Trailers, where the sub is indeed referred to as the "Splash Wall." Check it out here. Also, even though it's called the .52 Gallon, I've still heard people just call it the 52 Gallon, or the 52 Gal for short.

You may have misunderstood me. When I said it was called I meant in the past tense. I was agreeing with you. Sorry for not being clearer.
Thinking a bit more about the Sprinkler in the context of Splat Zones, it seems like a solid means of at the very least preventing the area from becoming lost. Because a team must completely cover the ground surface area of the zone in their ink, it's constant spaying of ink all around can buy your team some time. I'm not sure if it can be attacked like the Splash Wall to shorten its duration though.
It also helps to prevent Roller users which are normally the most efficient at covering lots of ground in their ink from simply cruising on through and taking the zone since they won't be able to get close enough to cover the circle around a sprinkler without either being splattered by it or just plain unable to completely cover the area. Not to mention they're at the most risk against pretty much every other ranged weapon. It's all about teamwork.

I know that the Sprinkler is a one way shield. The team that created it can shoot through it while the other team can't. It disappears on a timer but like Xeiros I'm not sure if shooting it can shorten its duration. I think you are misunderstanding something.... The Splat Wall is the one way shield, in which the team can shoot through it whilst the opponent cannot. The Sprinkler is another sub-weapon altogether. The sprinkler is exactly what it says it is, a sprinkler. It is thrown on the ground in which is spews paint within a smallish radish for an reasonably decent amount of time.

I was confusing them! I know exactly what the Sprinkler is and I remember seeing it in a trailer. I got the names confused. I have now deleted my post above.
