Perhaps Splatoon is the first game on wii u to support more than one game Pad! That way everyone playing will have the easy access to the overhead map. They already confirmed you can use the Wii U Pro Controller.

I thought they said they were considering it. Where'd they confirm?

I can believe that the pro controller will be able to use, but how exactly are they suppose to use the super jump? Perhaps pressing anything on the D-pad will start moving a cursor around and then once the cursor is on the teammate you want to jump to, just press A or cancel with B!

The way that I envision the pro controller to be able to super jump, you would bring up the map with Up on the D pad
Left, Right, and Down would transport you to your teammate.

You wouldn't bring up the map, the map would work like in Monster Hunter, on the screen but see through so you can see what is happening. I agree that the D Pad would indicate which team mate.

Good point. The main reason I was thinking of having the map act as a toggle is because if they wanted to do 4 person local multiplayer, I thought it would give each player a large enough HUD.

See you could easily make it so on the pro controller the d-pad represented home base, and your three teammates respectively with the press of a direction squid jumping you to the location you selected, but then you'd need yet another button to bring up the same map gamepad users can see at a glance in order to make an informed decision. No two ways about it, anyone not using the pad will be at a disadvantage. Even if you cluttered up the on-screen HUD by slapping the map on screen, it wouldn't be the same. It couldn't be a mini-map either. You'd need to be able to see the same details the game-pad users can.
