Just like with Bayonetta (site probably not safe for work but the vid is clean): WHUT
Okay, so you're a Treehouse dude and Reggie says "Some Playboy models are comin' around to play Splatoon, you gotta explain it to them" and I think he did an admirable job. While I sorta understand why they did it with Bayonetta, this is a far weirder marketing synergy strategy. Given Playboy's target audience and the target audience of Splatoon... The girls themselves seemed to be having fun playing it, though, so this game really IS for everyone!

I love how she doesn't understand the difference between first and third person perspectives.

I love how she doesn't understand the difference between first and third person perspectives. I imagine this comes from her only playing first person shooters and thus assuming that anything with shooting is called that. Outside of video games and literature courses, where does one really learn about the difference between "persons"? : P

Film school/classes, and that's about it. Personally, I thought it amusing, and if it gets more eyes on the game, so much the better.
...Besides, if you do some digging, you'll find that Playboy isn't entirely a skin mag anymore. It's actually got a LOT of variety stuff to talk about.

Was kinda skeeved when I saw the video title thinking it was something NSFW or creepy but it was luckily not. I guess because Playboy apparently has some game group thing (idk how to describe it) and Nintendo invited a bunch of different groups and people to this event... they were one of them.

It's actually got a LOT of variety stuff to talk about. Playboy always had in-depth interviews and even short stories by famous authors. I know this not because I buy the magazine, but because many of the short stores and interviews I've read for literature classes were published in Playboy first. I think it's fun that they covered a game that probably isn't on the radar of a lot of their readers.

I read somewhere that it is quite possible and likely that Playboy actually went to Nintendo for their games segment.

I think it's interesting that playboy, possessing such a widely different demographic than Nintendo's core audience, is promoting Splatoon. I wonder how this will ultimately affect the game's release.

I wonder how this will ultimately affect the game's release. A lot of the people who grew up with Nintendo's old systems, such as the NES or SNES or even the N64 (that makes me feel SUPER old) are now in Playboy's demographic, so maybe they're trying to bring 'em back into the fold?

I can't really see this negatively impacting sales, really. Hard to describe, but basically I think the audience for Playboy wouldn't care, in a nutshell.

Except for the over protective parent's that get wind on this, then they'll think splatoon is some sort of pornographic game. Really silly if they do though >.<

That's less likely nowadays, I feel.

Plus, like I said, I am pretty sure Playboy went to Nintendo. So in Nintendo's eyes, more advertisement is better. If they want more people to join its fanbase, the company needs to market to a variety of people.
