So far there hasn't been any evidence of this, we use to think the game just had a varied amount of weapons that really followed no set types. Until now, I went full on detective and found irrefutable proof there are weapon types that are set in different categories. Something you'd see in games like Call of Duty, or Battlefield. There's actually like 6 different rifles. The Standard RifleQuick Ink RifleStandard Rifle with ScopeA completely metal Rifle with a scopeOne that looks like an traditional Sniper RifleAnd another similar to the Standard Ink Rifle with a scope but the scope is more colorful, and the base is yellow instead of green, the trigger section is completely different. These are categorized weapon types. "But.. some of those are just weapons in the background of the Arms shop! That doesn't prove you can use them, they can just be for decoration! " To shut any skeptics up (No offense), I present you with confirmation that they're not! BOOMYou can clearly see an Inkling using that Metal Rifle with a Scope in this screen cap I took. As the red arrow points to. See: So from what I can tell, we have.. Rifle Gun Type. (Long Range) - Listed above. Sub-machine Gun Type (Mid to Low Range, Fast Rate) - Standard Ink Gun, Hero Gun, Ink Gun. Melee Type (Close Range) - Ink Rollers, Ink Brush. Heavy Gun Type (Heavy damage, low rate) - 5.2 Gallons, Red Ink Gun.
Now I can say with confidence, there will most likely be a ton more weapons. I think it's safe to say we've seen all the Rifle types possibly. But definitely not in the other category types. Damn I'm good. :J Discuss!

Anyone who watched GameXplain's Splatoon Analysis - Nintendo Direct Plaza Gameplay (Secrets & Hidden Details) video which I'd assume everyone here, including you, already has, they'd know all of this already. They make the same connection with clothing in that video as well using a background helmet as an example. This is nothing new.
The day of the direct we learned weapons were sorted into specific categories simply by looking at their shared stats, names, and appearance. Again, all of this is a couple weeks old now. I know new information is coming in at a tinkle, but there's nothing new to actually discuss here. Also didn't you post this somewhere else on this board already? Yeah, you did or something extremely close to it anyway.

GameXplain never pointed to the rifles in the background of the arms shop, weren't you just saying in the other thread that the weapons I listed were most likely the only weapons in the game, with few variations? Because that's not true at all. No one yet has discovered or looked at those Rifles and pointed them out. Or seeing an Inkling using one to prove they weren't just decorations. Sure we knew weapons have different stats but there was no indication what type of weapons would have those stats only, specifically. At the most people thought there would be a slight variation of a cetain weapon, looking at the Ink Rollers and the one Ink Rifle that had a scope on it.
Yes I did post this elsewhere, but not in as much detail.
