Splatoon has been generating a lot of buzz from many gaming sites and from a lot of people. The question is simple:Do you think Splatoon is the next big IP for Nintendo? It has what it take IMO. Its colorful, looks great, has action and just has that great feel of an awesome game. Discuss please!

To answer that, we'll have to see as the release date gets closer. Anything can happen really with Nintendo's market.

I've discussed this with someone previous in the comments section of the original Splatoon trailer.
What Splatoon is doing to shooting genre is exactly what Super Smash Bros. did to the fighting genre, and what Mario Kart did to the racing genre.
This game is focused less on getting kills, but more on working together and efficiently laying down groundwork for your team.
Like Smash, you are encouraged to be creative and innovative with the tools at your disposal.
So yes. In short, I'm sure this is going to be one of the big Nintendo IP's.

I will eat a hat if a Rico Harbor map gets announced for Splatoon.

Seems like Nintendo wants it to be, but only time will tell.

It's a strange feeling, paying $13 to use what amounts to a giant Beyblade in a Zelda game

It's a real wild card. I love that the game has generated nothing but positive press (with the exception of the one guy from GI who said the lack of a reticule made it hard to control), and with the latest Direct interest really seems to have risen, but at the same time the game is quite capable of flopping. I certainly hope it's a big hit, but again at the moment it's really hard to tell.

They are pushing for it to be, but who knows. It's a bit of a risky franchise so it really could go either way.

Well, Splatoon has everything to be what Team Fortress 2 is for PC gaming. The definitive shooter experience for consoles.

It's nice to see Nintendo is betting some fairly big bucks on this. And they're also doing really well building up hype for it.

The level of appeal and accessibility in this game astounds me. You don't have to be a pro third person shooter player to do well in this game. Everyone can do their part to help the team just by spraying ink. The character customization will do so much to draw in those who may not have otherwise bothered. Never underestimate the appeal of playing dress up.

It definitely has the potential. Big E Gaming, a large FGC coordinator who also hosts Gears tourneys, just posted Splatoon's box art on their Facebook page.

I'm putting half of my money on splatoon and the other half on xenoblade X. Let's not forget Devil's third. Splatoon and Devil's third might be the sleeper hit shooters this year. Only on the Wii U foo
