I will eat a hat if a Rico Harbor map gets announced for Splatoon.

The game that I played the most at E3 this year outside of smash, was splatoon. As I said in my introduction post. I'm a long time competitive smasher. So where do you think competitive splatoon will be in 10 years?

I'm hoping to get a scene started in my neck of the woods. Here's hoping.

It's a strange feeling, paying $13 to use what amounts to a giant Beyblade in a Zelda game

I know there's at least one other person who lives in Texas on this board, so as far as local goes that's something I'll probably be looking into. 10 years is really uncertain, but given that the community does stay in tact for that long it'll probably be a cult hit game, I can't really see Splatoon expanding into more than maybe one more game unless it becomes super popular. Only time will tell though.

I think also that we should really put effort into online tournaments. That'll likely be the majority of how the game's competitive community play together for a bit, so I think that should be embraced.

Based on the fact a freakin forum was made for this game, I say the future looks really bright.

This game has definitely sparked A LOT of interest. So much so, that a subreddit and forum were made JUST for Splatoon! (Shoutout to TheRapture/TheSplature)
As 007 pointed out, this game is definitely going to be a cult favorite. Once this game gets released, I anticipate plenty of Twitch streams, as I'd really like to watch some tournaments taking place.
We'll also be forming teams and crews in the future, so check out The Inkwell thread if you're interested in that. (I expect A LOT more people to be active the closer to release the game gets.)

A part of me is paranoid that because it's a new IP, everyone is going to pass up on this game and ignore it like how Wonderful 101 was treated. But another side of me has a feeling there is that it's going to catch on, and have a pretty big following, sort of like the Smash Bros community.

I think Splatoon has a better fix on it's audience than W101 did. W101 ended being for Platinum fans who also happened to big Nintendo fans, but it's aesthetic and majority of it's dialogue seem like they're aimed at kids. As much as I love W101, it wasn't sure what it wanted to do with itself. Splatoon on the other hand seems to be very kid-friendly while having depth for those who are interested in taking it a step further. I guess we'll have to wait and see though. Also cool that you're from Texas. If we're close enough it might be a good idea to try and set up some locals after launch.

I think Splatoon is going to be a great game. Shooters as a genre are very popular, and this game is changing up that formula while presenting it in a very kid/parent-friendly way. Random online matchmaking will be a blast to play in by itself for the casual gamer. The additional layer of forming crews will enhance the experience for many. At the same time, it doesn't have the same type of appeal as a game like Smash, where everyone can recognize some of the characters on the screen. Splatoon as a competitive game won't have the all-star lineup factor of drawing in players. However, there should be a dedicated group that plays it for years.

Another texan checking in here, from the DFW area. I'm gonna do everything I can to get some sort of regular tournament series going on over here. If you're ever in the area, hopefully some of you can stop by. Splatoon is like.. everything i've ever wanted from a competitive game, so I'll do whatever I can to make this happen, even if I have to host from my own house.

Speaking of tourneys, do you guys think we'll be getting an online tourney mode for this game. Seems really appropriate IMO.

It's a coin flip. I could see it, but I could not see it. Also, I'm from Louisiana. Splatoon scene primarily in the South? Seems likely.
