In Splat Zones I'm planning on being a "Sweaty Tryhard" I'm going to try as hard as I can for that A+ Rank this includes using OP weapons are partying with really good people, but of course they will be friends. I think it will be fun, because I enjoy winning and it will be a challenge getting to A+ hopefully. Reply telling me how YOU will play the game.

Relatively casually, to be honest. I'm not that big of a competitive player. I do get the itch sometimes, so I won't be completely lackadasical.

It depends on the context. I'm not going to actively try to screw my teammates over by oh say standing around doing nothing regardless of the mode. I'll do my best to be a member the rest of the players on my team can be glad to have played with. This goes even more so in any ranked modes where the very nature of the subsection practically demands a more serious approach. Me messing around by making a lackadaisical half-assed effort there would be disrespectful to the normally serious efforts of the rest of the team.
It's as simple as while I won't treat Splatoon as some overly serious matter, I'll still approach each mode with the knowledge that how I play will in some way affect not just the experience of the other three players on my team, but the enemy team's players as well. I want everyone to leave each match satisfied that everyone else put in the effort normally expected of them in that particular mode be it the more casual laid back Turf Wars or the more seriously competitive Splat Zones. For me, it's less about how much fun I can have on my own and more about what I could do to enhance the fun of everyone else which in turn makes my whole experience better as a result.

Many big name gaming magazines and Nintendo are hinting at a large competitive scene for this game. I'm most likely going to go tryhard Also do we know if you will be able to create parties with friends/other players and join a queue as a team?

Tryhard by its very definition comes with negative connotations. To be referred to as such in any way is not meant as a complement. I'm baffled as to its inclusion on the poll. It's as if you could boil the two options on it down to either you don't care much at all or you care so much you turn into an asshole in your need for success in a video-game. Too seriously (cares a bit too much) and not seriously enough (doesn't care enough) just aren't good options.

I won't care about the wins/losses too much in turf war. splat zones idk, if my team sucks super bad I'll be irritated i bet. but what can you do? but splatoon~

That's why context matters. It's why I'd normally expect players to take ranked matches more seriously than unranked ones. As long as you don't forget you're playing with other human beings keeping in mind that how you play as well as your overall attitude will affect them in some small way too. Is it wrong to take even Turf Wars seriously? How about not taking Splat Zones seriously? It's more complicated than the potential extremes of casual and tryhard. It's about how you choose to behave affects those you're playing with for better or for worse. You can't have a healthy online community if players only have their own satisfaction in mind. Save that mindset for Hero mode.

I'll play casually when on Turf War, and on any other non-ranked game types.
I'll definitely go somewhat tryhard in Ranked, however.

Probably an "MLG try hard" since that's what friends label me as in smash, even when I play casually. I guess I'll have to see when the game comes out..

I forsee myself playing casually. I don't get too riled about whether I win or lose(although it's always nice to win). If you and your team mates try your best and have fun, that's what counts for me!

I will tryhard, resulting in me not having a gamepad.

I will probably start out as trying hard, but eventually switchover to casual; or as sometimes I have done, casual to trying hard. It just depends on the day of the week and how I'm feeling. Thanks, work! *sighs*

Why is everyone saying that turf war can't be played competitively? Just wondering...
