If they do release a demo, then I think they'll just have it include a couple of Hero mode missions. Unless they do a distributed limited release like Monster Hunter 4, then I doubt they'll release a turf war demo. But why have a demo on something that isn't the games main focus? Its all speculation at this point. But why would they release a multiplayer demo for mass release? Seems like a waste of servers and an even bigger threat to potential profit. A Hero mode demo wouldn't hurt a thing. That's why I think its the highest likely hood.

I want to believe that Nintendo is smart enough to do so, but my gut tells me that it's unlikely they will. Even if they did, I don't think it would be an online demo, simply due to Nintendo not being the most competent with anything online related. I dunno, Nintendo works in ways I will never understand.

Why would they release a demo at all?

Nintendo could release a demo with some kind of CPU opponents.

Why would they release a demo at all? That's a pointless question.

I'm now a Splatoon Commander! nintendo has made demos for their products for the sake of being consumer friendly (pikmin 3, codename S.T.E.A.M.) and also to stirr publicity for a game (limited demos of smash 3ds, mh4u) its not completely absurd to think that they'd release a demo for splatoon considering that it's one of their major titles releasing this year, and they'd also want to bring attention to it considering it's a new IP

I'm now a Splatoon Commander! Monster Hunter 4 disagrees with you. They didn't even have to make "new servers" either. They just used their existing ones and a simple work-around. Having an online demo really isn't that hard.. If anything, they could just give you the game, block off all the other modes and equipment, and call it day. The servers and matchmaking system is still there, and they could probably allow it so your BP is transferred to your final game.

With Zelda Wii U next year this and Star Fox (And whatever they haven't announced yet) are their major titles this year, so a demo could happen. I still think it is unlikely though. Also sorry to be off-topic but what does BP stand for? I know what it does in Splatoon I just don't know what it stands for.
