I'm starting to think we may not have a Splatoon direct. It's getting pretty close to launch and we know a lot...

MK8 got its Direct on April 30th and launched in America May 30th Splatoon has time. As long as it's before release.

But that direct had literally no new information.

But that direct had literally no new information. Yes it did, it showed off new characters, MKTV functionality, new tracks, and online functionality.

Clip from direct in question: But anyways the direct was sort of a summarization of what is in the game. There were some new pieces of info and some stuff we already knew, but in the end it felt a little cheesy. Now that I'm rewatching parts of the direct it wasn't that bad. It would be interesting if they did a direct like this for Splatoon but as if it was by the Squid Research Lab!

We have something that confirms more maps and the only maps you can play on Battle Dojo. These maps are all Small to Medium sized, but as you can see, Camp Triggerfish is missing as well as another unnamed map that's like a construction site. Both maps are large compared to all of these. I think with the addition on the two large maps, there will be 3-5 more maps yet to be revealed. But who knows. And before anyone asks "What construction site map?" this one which was in the reveal trailer and I took a snapshot of it from the Japanese overview trailer:

Well at least we know the name of the E3 map: Urchin Underpass! Interestingly it says Balloon Battle in that image and not Battle Dojo, implying that there may be more local multi-player modes, with all of them making up Battle Dojo. Maybe when you press plus (In that image it says "+ Rules") you can change to different local multi-player modes! But anyways I really hope this game doesn't have the Mario Party 10 problem of not having enough boards/some boards only being available in Mario Party. In this case it would be not having enough maps and some maps only being available online! EDIT: YES!!! I AM NOW A LORD OF THE'S ALSO! Look out JP4464!

It really does seem like they're not telling us half of what they have in store, honestly. Interesting counterpoint to the usual game media approach of just about telling about absolutely everything in the game months before release.
I kinda like it.

Yet they also had a ton of gaming websites and other people preview the game back in March! I like this strategy way more than MK8's.
