One of my friends has a capture card that works for both Wii and Wii U.
I plan on streaming Splatoon when it comes out, so maybe I'll be able to make some videos in the future.

I don't know anything about them. Do you have to put them in the WiiU like the 3DS ones? No you plug it into the console. I'm not exactly sure how as I only used mine for my Wii. I may have to invest in one if they aren't horribly expensive. I bet they are.

I might be able to pick one up depending on what job I get when I go home this summer. Cuz who cares about student debt when you gotta record Splatoon

I use an Elgato capture card. You plug an hdmi cable into the wii u and the card, then there is an cord that plugs into the computer system, which displays what is on the screen onto your computer. Finally, you take another hdmi cable and hook it up from the capture card and into the monitor/tv. That is what you watch the play as the computer has a delay.

Sorry for the double post, but the Elgato card I have is 150 dollars, but the one that does 60 fps video is even more. Make sure you have above the system requirements, otherwise you are in trouble.

I have the Elgato Capture HD60. It doesn't require a monster of a computer, but it's best to have something that runs decently well. Even then, most of the computer strength would go into recording the 60FPS. I payed roughly $190 (tax included) for mine, but if you're not a stickler for 60FPS, it isn't worth dishing out the extra $20-$30 just for it (especially if you're worried your computer won't be able to handle it).
Anyways, I'll definitely be doing some Splatoon videos once that releases. My channel is very new, and I have been looking for a big hype game to record.

These are the recommendations for Mac users, taken directly from their website: • OS X 10.9 or later • 2nd generation Intel Core i5 CPU (i5-2xxx or comparable), 2 Ghz or higher, before Turbo Boost • 4GB Total Installed RAM (or higher) • Built-in USB 2.0 port I want to say that you should be fine, but it really comes down to two things: Ram and Processor. You've got no issues with ram, but I'm not sure what processor you've got, so I can't really tell. EDIT: Just did a bit of research, and I'm fairly certain your Macbook could handle it, but just to be sure, I suggest asking someone who knows more about it (like an employee at Futureshop or something).

The minimal requirements are on their site (here is the regular HD one): help.elgato.com/customer/portal/articles/1020255-elgato-game-capture-hd-system-requirementsYou definitely need more than the minimal requirements. Obviously, more is better.

I think I exceed all of them! I suppose this must create big files, huh? I have a 1TB external drive, though
